Mojo Collects Playoff Spot With Win Over Frenship E-mail

It took five sets, but the Lady Panthers were able to put Frenship away (16-25, 25-11, 25-20, 21-25, 15-12) at the Permian Fieldhouse.  Akor Maywin and Jessica Nguyen each handled 14 kills, with Lynden Sterling posting 12. Karissa Cortez led in assists with 28, and Chloe Rivera added another 24. Maywin and Nguyen came up with five blocks each.
Alissa Miramontez led the Lady Panthers in digs with 23, while Nguyen (16), Rivera (8), Cortez (8), Enedina Minjarez (8), and Hallie Silvas (7) contributed in the victory.  Permian will host San Angelo Central in Mojo's district finale on Friday at 5:00 p.m.


Permian Sweeps Midland Lee In Straight Sets E-mail

The Lady Panthers put on a strong showing while sweeping Midland Lee in three sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-22) at the PHS Fieldhouse.  Akor Maywin was responsible for 13 kills, while Jessica Nguyen recorded 12. Karissa Cortez led in assists with 25, and Chloe Rivera contributed 14. Maywin also came up with five blocks.
Alissa Miramontez led the Lady Panthers in digs with 25.  Permian improves to 5-4 in 2-6A and will travel to Amarillo on Friday for the last district road game.  Mojo will take on Tascosa at 5:00 p.m.

Mojo Collects District Win Over Midland High E-mail

It took five sets, but the Lady Panthers scored a district win over Midland High on Friday at the PHS Fieldhouse.  After dropping the first set 23-25, Permian won the next two sets (25-19 and 30-28).  Midland took the fourth set (16-25) to force a fifth.  Mojo was not to be denied, winning the final set 15-10.  Jessica Nguyen recorded 18 kills, followed by Akor Maywin (13) and Lynden Sterling (9). Karissa Cortez and Chloe Rivera each contributed 24 assists. Nguyen was also credited with six blocks.
Alissa Miramontez again led the Lady Panthers in digs with 42.  Permian will host the other Midland district foe, Lee's Lady Rebels on October 11.

Permian Scores Road Win Over Midland Lee E-mail

The Lady Panthers picked up their second district win on Friday.  Permian beat Midland Lee in four sets (25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22) to improve to 2-1 in District 2-6A.  Jessica Nguyen had 19 kills, followed by Akor Maywin (12) and Tristiana Abila (11). Karissa Cortez led in assists with 24 and Chloe Rivera contributed 22. Nguyen was also credited with four blocks.
Alissa Miramontez led the Lady Panthers in digs with 35, with Cortez recording 10 more. Permian will host Amarillo Tascosa on September 20 at the PHS Fieldhouse.

Mojo Open District With "W" Over OHS E-mail

The Lady Panthers knocked off Odessa High in three straight sets (25-16, 25-13, 25-16) in the district home opener at the PHS Fieldhouse.  Akor Maywin had 12 kills, with Jessica Nguyen following with nine and Hallie Silvas with six. Chloe Rivera led in assists with 25 and Karissa Cortez contributed nine. Maywin was also credited with five blocks, while Silvas had four.
The digs were spread among the Lady Panthers - Alissa Miramontez (11), Rivera (6), Nguyen (4), and Cortez (3). Permian will travel to Midland High on Tuesday for another district tilt.

Permian Continues Success In San Angelo E-mail

After rolling through pool play in the Nita Vannoy Tournament in San Angelo, the Lady Panthers staked claim as the Gold Bracket Champions.  Permian disposed of Greenwood (25-15, 25-15), Veribest (25-6, 25-4), and Del Rio (25-12, 25-16) in Pool 5 on Friday.
Mojo continued its impressive performance on Saturday.  After sweeping Monahans (27-25, 25-19) and Midland Christian (25-19, 25-21), the Lady Panthers advanced to the bracket championship to face San Angelo Central.  In a classic catfight between the Panthers and Bobcats, Permian came out on top (25-21, 22-25, 28-26) to claim to tournament title.

Jessica Nguyen was recognized as Tournament MVP, while Karissa Cortez received All-Tournament Setter honors.  Akor Maywin was named in the All-Tournament team.

Mojo Off To A Great Start E-mail

The Lady Panthers began with the Varsity winning the Abilene Christian University team camp tourney.  All of the Permian teams did well at the 43rd annual Monahans Volleyball Tournament.
The Varsity came out back-to-back tourney champions after defeating El Paso Montwood in the Final.  The Junior Varsity and JV White teams both advanced to the tourneament Gold Brackets.  The JV finished in 3rd Place and White played in the consolation game.

Let The 2016 Volleyball Season Begin E-mail

The 2016 season is here and workouts begin today. We start promptly at 7:00 a.m. and finish the morning session at 10:00 a.m.  After a late morning intermission, the second session will pick-up at noon and finish at 2:00 p.m.
We will have our first scrimmage of the season this Friday in Andrews, and then we travel to Monahans on Saturday for another scrimmage.
