The 2014 Permian 9th Grade Volleyball tryouts were held and the list of those that have qualifed is listed below. We would like to thank all of the upcoming Permian student athletes for their interest in the volleyball program and their efforts in trying out for the team this year.

Tascosa Knocks PHS Out Of Playoff Spot E-mail

In a must-win game against Amarillo Tascosa, the Lady Panthers came up shy of a victory and trip to the state playoffs.  The Lady Rebels won 25-18, 25-20, and 25-13.  PHS and Midland High end tied with 9-7 records.  The Lady Bulldogs will advance on a tie-breaker.

Katie Reeves had a game high 24 assists, with Jordan Williams and McKenna Thomas leading all with 14 digs each.  Individual stats just wasn't enough on Tuesday.  Carlee Smith also recorded 11 kills for the Lady Panthers in their final match of the season.

 
Cooper Down, Tascosa To Go E-mail

The Lady Panthers kept their playoff hopes alive by disposing of the Lady Cougars in three sets 25-13, 25-9, 25-18 on Friday afternoon at the PHS Fieldhouse.  Jordan Williams had a game high 20 kills, while Katie Reeves led all with 37 assists. With Cooper by the wayside, the focus now turns to Tuesday's clash in Amarillo.

Permian and Midland High are fighting for the final playoff spot with 9-6 records. Tuesday's task is to hand Tascosa their first district loss this season.  It would also help for San Angelo Central to beat the Lady Bulldogs.

 
Permian Falls To Midland High In Five E-mail

Tuesday night’s district match between the Lady Panthers and Lady Bulldogs lived up to the cliched "Fight Like Cats & Dogs". Midland High claimed the first two sets 28-26 and 25-16, before Permian took the next two 25-21 and 25-19. The Dogs got the better of a 15-11 fifth set at the PHS Fieldhouse. The loss drops Mojo out of 2-5A's Top Four for the first time all year.

Aleana Crow and Carlee Smith had 19 kills each to lead the Lady Panthers. Jordan Williams added another 14. Katie Reeves distributed 49 assists. Williams and Jessica Ibarra recorded two blocks each.
