Permian Scores Road Win Over Midland Lee E-mail

The Lady Panthers picked up their second district win on Friday.  Permian beat Midland Lee in four sets (25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22) to improve to 2-1 in District 2-6A.  Jessica Nguyen had 19 kills, followed by Akor Maywin (12) and Tristiana Abila (11). Karissa Cortez led in assists with 24 and Chloe Rivera contributed 22. Nguyen was also credited with four blocks.
Alissa Miramontez led the Lady Panthers in digs with 35, with Cortez recording 10 more. Permian will host Amarillo Tascosa on September 20 at the PHS Fieldhouse.

Mojo Open District With "W" Over OHS E-mail

The Lady Panthers knocked off Odessa High in three straight sets (25-16, 25-13, 25-16) in the district home opener at the PHS Fieldhouse.  Akor Maywin had 12 kills, with Jessica Nguyen following with nine and Hallie Silvas with six. Chloe Rivera led in assists with 25 and Karissa Cortez contributed nine. Maywin was also credited with five blocks, while Silvas had four.
The digs were spread among the Lady Panthers - Alissa Miramontez (11), Rivera (6), Nguyen (4), and Cortez (3). Permian will travel to Midland High on Tuesday for another district tilt.

Permian Continues Success In San Angelo E-mail

After rolling through pool play in the Nita Vannoy Tournament in San Angelo, the Lady Panthers staked claim as the Gold Bracket Champions.  Permian disposed of Greenwood (25-15, 25-15), Veribest (25-6, 25-4), and Del Rio (25-12, 25-16) in Pool 5 on Friday.
Mojo continued its impressive performance on Saturday.  After sweeping Monahans (27-25, 25-19) and Midland Christian (25-19, 25-21), the Lady Panthers advanced to the bracket championship to face San Angelo Central.  In a classic catfight between the Panthers and Bobcats, Permian came out on top (25-21, 22-25, 28-26) to claim to tournament title.

Jessica Nguyen was recognized as Tournament MVP, while Karissa Cortez received All-Tournament Setter honors.  Akor Maywin was named in the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Panthers began with the Varsity winning the Abilene Christian University team camp tourney.  All of the Permian teams did well at the 43rd annual Monahans Volleyball Tournament.
The Varsity came out back-to-back tourney champions after defeating El Paso Montwood in the Final.  The Junior Varsity and JV White teams both advanced to the tourneament Gold Brackets.  The JV finished in 3rd Place and White played in the consolation game.

Let The 2016 Volleyball Season Begin E-mail

The 2016 season is here and workouts begin today. We start promptly at 7:00 a.m. and finish the morning session at 10:00 a.m.  After a late morning intermission, the second session will pick-up at noon and finish at 2:00 p.m.
We will have our first scrimmage of the season this Friday in Andrews, and then we travel to Monahans on Saturday for another scrimmage.

Permian Finishes With District Win Over Lee E-mail

After beating Midland Lee in five sets (23-25, 26-28, 25-21, 25-19, 17-15), Permian will now focus its attention on the Bi-District Round of the State playoffs.  The Lady Panthers were led by Hope Koym with 20 kills, followed by Jessica Nguyen (15) and Kaytlynn Lewis (10).  Karissa Cortez had a team-high 33 assists, and Chloe Rivera added another 26.
Alissa Miramontez recorded 21 digs, and Briana Parras picked up 17 more in the victory.  Miramontez and Nguyen each served up four aces.  Akor Maywin was  responsible for three blocks.

Panthers Win Catfight With Central Bobcats E-mail

The Lady Panthers are now one win away from securing a playoff spot with the sweep of San Angelo Central (25-15, 25-12, 25-21) on Senior Night at the PHS Fieldhouse.  Alissa Miramontez led the assault for Permian with 16 digs.  Brianna Parras contributed eight and Jessica Nguyen recorded seven digs.  Akor Maywin also had three blocks.
Offensively, Nguyen logged eight kills, while Maywin added six and Hope Koym added another five.  Assists were provided by Chloe Rivera (17) and Karissa Cortez (10).
